"For me, self-care looks like convenience."

It's incredibly busy being a military spouse. My husband is currently deployed so it’s up to me to solve everything for everyone and I have to do it on my own. I also work full time and take care of the groceries, shopping, the house, or anything that needs to get done.

The convenience of Jenny Craig has really been a huge thing for me. My weight has traditionally fluctuated, and I’d been frustrated that I was inconsistent about doing something about it. Things I was trying didn't stick and I’d been trying to figure out what I could do differently or better.

My friend, Angela shared that she was doing Max Up with Jenny Craig and asked if I’d be interested in doing it together. After being inconsistent with so many other weight loss attempts, I really liked that this plan is ready to go with so many of the decisions mapped out for me, and that level of convenience felt like self-care.

The activity plan: "Early on I could see that I could do it."

Knowing that there's good food that's already pre-planned for me feels like I’m taking care of myself because I know my body has what it needs. Instead of just grabbing whatever I can or eating mindlessly, the fact that I don’t have to think about it is a huge help. The Jenny app is also really easy to use and makes it all the more convenient. The convenience of Jenny has been a lifesaver because the plan takes care of me while I take care of everybody else. It didn’t take long for me to think, ‘Oh, this is easy. I don't have to think about it!’

Knowing what to eat and how much to eat used to be a really big challenge for me. There's just so much information out there, and trying to figure it for yourself isn’t easy. I’m liking the food from Jenny and really love that all that stuff is taken care of for me. There’s no more guessing. I don’t have to worry about nutrition or portion sizes. Seeing firsthand and learning what an adequate portion actually looks like – and what it feels like – and then doing it consistently has been huge for me.

Before, if I was bored, food was almost like a distraction or entertainment. It was a lightbulb moment when I realized this about myself. Once I was on Jenny, I recognized that I often wasn’t hungry but just looking for a diversion. Now I can trust that because I’ve eaten, I know my body has what it needs. It was a great learning experience. I've definitely learned to be more conscious and mindful about what and how much I'm eating.

I was happy that the activity plans were totally attainable! Early on I could see that I could do it. The walks have been more of a stress relief break, and that part of it is really enjoyable. I love that you don't have to be out of breath and sweating.

The fact that the activity plans didn't seem impossible took the pressure off. I've learned in all this that I tend to be an all-or-nothing person and I'm slowly changing that. This is helping me realize that you don't have to go all-in super hard on something but rather, that things are gradual, constant over your lifetime of being healthy.

I feel more productive and I'm definitely sleeping better.

Since I’ve been doing Max Up, I can get up easier in the morning and I'm ready to get things done. I definitely feel more productive. My energy is good and I’m sleeping better.

It's not a fight with the scale but a lesson in consistency and patience with a gradual pace. You see those healthy changes turn into the weight that you want to lose and the energy that you want to have to feel better overall.

"I've lost 27 pounds and 3.5 inches and gained so much confidence in myself."

Once the Max Up plan got rolling and I could see the changes and the numbers moving, I realized the direct connection to my choices and the actions I was taking. I'm happy to see the differences that I can make and how my choices to help myself look and feel better are not only working but also affect my health. I’ve lost 27 pounds and 3.5 inches and gained so much confidence in myself! It's shown me that I can work towards a goal and I can do it!

I'm enjoying the process so far, and I look forward to losing even more weight and seeing my old self again. It’ll feel great to hit my goal and feel that of sense accomplishment!
