"I woke up and wondered what happened to me."

When I had children, they became my whole world. For so many of us, you focus so much on everyone else and end up forgetting about yourself. All of a sudden, I woke up and wondered, “What happened to me? Where did I go? Why am I so much bigger than I used to be?”

One night, one of my kids needed something for school, so I went to a shopping center to get it. In the store, I saw a cute dress and when I tried it on, it absolutely did not fit. No joke — it was stuck on my head, and I’m thinking, “Someone’s going to have to cut me out of this dress!”

That started this awakening that things were really out of control. As I was leaving the shopping center, I looked over and saw a Jenny Craig center. I literally walked in and blurted out, “I have no idea how any of this works but I’m in.”

I’m eating twice as much and losing weight!

I think when people hear the word diet they immediately think they can’t eat anything. I’ve learned that it’s the opposite! I’m eating twice as much now on Jenny than when I was at my biggest! I’m eating macaroni and cheese and pizza and losing weight. Who knew?

I love the food. All of it. I love all the breakfast foods. I absolutely love the Chocolate Lava Cake! I also really love the Cauliflower Fried Rice With Chicken and Vegetables. The Chicken Burrito is amazing. I also really like that there are snacks for when I’m on the go and hungry.

I don’t feel like I’m on a diet. I feel that I’m changing the way I used to eat. My bones don’t hurt like they used to. I can stand longer. My feet used to kill me and I’d swear I’ve lost weight even in my feet! I wish I had done this forever ago.

The app is super simple and holds me accountable.

I have so much in my life that is unstructured. My Jenny meals are something that’s regular and that’s comforting to me. I don’t know everything that’s going to happen in a day, but I know that no matter what comes, what I’m putting into my body is guaranteed. Being so busy, it’s one thing in my life that’s so simple for me.

I also have other new rituals. Stepping on the scale every day started to become fun when it all started working. I know the scale is called Hey Max! but I’ve named mine Betty. She’s like that friend that always tells you the hard truth, so while I love her, I don’t always like her. I even took her on vacation with me!

The app is super simple and holds me accountable. Hey Max! syncs with it automatically to track my progress, and my coach can monitor how things are going. It’s been really good for me.

"I love my coach."

She knows me and the road I’m on. People in your life may be cheerleaders, but she actually knows. It’s great having a real person that’s outside of my regular chaos that gets that some days are going to be better than others – someone I can talk to who totally gets me, relates to me, that’s not judging me, who’s not on the sidelines but in it with me.

"It feels good to smile this much again. I’m a different kind of happy now."

I’ve lost 50 pounds and 8 inches off my waist.* That’s so much less than I weighed four months ago, so I’m experiencing new things. My seatbelt fits differently. I feel better in clothes. I’m able to move better for simple things like putting on shoes and pants.

My confidence is starting to come to life. I’m starting to feel human again. I’m getting a little more sass back. I can be pretty.

I have more energy too. I’m not as tired when I walk at work. I want to go do more active things with my boys. Simple things are easier like putting on shoes and pants. It’s like I’m finding me again. My kids are noticing how happy I am, which makes me proud. I refuse to go backward.

"I’m proud of me again."

I still feel like I’m a work in progress, but I’m getting there and I’m proud of me for the first time in a long time. I’m working for it, and it’s working. If all I have to do is eat correctly, follow a routine, weigh myself, keep up my activity, and check-in with someone who really cares about my success, I don’t have a doubt in my mind at all that I’ll get better and better.
